On the evening of Tuesday the 14th of January 2014, the Southern Fleurieu CFS Group and its Brigades responded to a number of fires understood to be caused by dry lightning which moved progressively across South Australia.

Daytime temperatures in the 40s and extremely steep terrain made the work very difficult for fighters, burning grass and scrub, while threatening a number of properties.  The fire was eventually contained to an area of 98 hectares, with much credit to all those involved and working under such difficult conditions.

The Victor Harbor CFS assisted by supplying several QRVs (Quick Response Vehicles) both on Tuesday and Wednesday night, and heavy appliances on Thursday.  Assistance being provided from the whole the region to maintain a 24 hour presence at the Delamere fire.
